Terms for Farm Websites

These terms apply when Half a Cow Club, operated by Known by One, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we"), builds, hosts and maintains a website for your farm or business ("you"), as offered at halfacowclub.com/farm-websites. Our general Terms of Service also apply, including their governing law and courts; where the two differ, these terms apply to the website service.

You accept these terms when you make your first payment. By paying, you confirm that you are authorized to accept them for your business. The website service is separate from your free listing and from buyer introductions, which have their own terms.

• Build a website for your farm from the information and photos you give us, and show you the full site before it goes live. We make the corrections you ask for before launch.
• Host the site, keep it on https, keep its software up to date and keep backups.
• Make ordinary updates when you email us: prices, what is available or sold out, pickup dates, a replacement photo, a paragraph of text. We aim to make them within one business day, and we tell you if one will take longer.
• Set up or tidy your Google Business Profile once, when you add us as a manager on it.
• Keep the share sizes, prices and pickup details on your site and on your Half a Cow Club listing the same, when you tell us one has changed.

A new page, a new section, a redesign, an online store, or anything else beyond ordinary updates is quoted separately and only started when you agree to the quote in writing.

The service costs $79 a month, or $790 for a year, paid by card. There is no setup fee. The first payment is taken when the site goes live, and each later payment on the same day of the month or year. If a payment fails we tell you and try again; if it still fails after 14 days we may take the site offline until it is paid.

You only ever pay the price shown on the offer page when you signed up, until we tell you of a change (see Changes below).

On the monthly plan you can cancel at any time by emailing contact@halfacowclub.com. The site stays up until the end of the period you have paid for and no further payment is taken. On the yearly plan the site stays up until the end of the paid year; we do not refund part of a year, except that if you cancel within 14 days of the site going live we refund the yearly payment in full.

We may end the service with 30 days' notice by email, with a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period after the end date.

Your domain name is registered in your name from the start, and you pay its registration fee directly or we invoice it to you at cost. We point it at the site while you are with us and wherever you ask us to when you leave. We never hold your domain.

The content you give us (your text, your photos, your prices) stays yours. The design and code of the site are ours while we host it. After 12 months of paid service, or at any time on the yearly plan once the year is paid, the site files are yours too: if you leave after that, we send you an export of the site that any web host can serve. If you leave before that, you keep your domain and your content, and we take the site offline at the end of the paid period.

Each site we build carries a short footer line, "Website by Half a Cow Club", linking to halfacowclub.com. It stays while we host the site.

• What the site says about your farm and your beef is your statement, not ours: prices, breeds, how the animals are raised, certifications, processing. You confirm it is true and that you have the right to use the photos and text you give us.
• You answer the families who reserve a share through the site. We pass their messages on; we do not sell on your behalf.
• You keep your payment card details with us up to date.

We work carefully, but we do not promise that the site will bring you a certain number of visitors, enquiries or sales, or that it will rank in any search engine. If the site is offline because of us, we fix it as quickly as we can; if something goes wrong that is our fault, the most we owe is the amount you paid us for the service in the previous three months. We are not liable for lost sales, lost profits or indirect losses.

We may change these terms or the price. If we do, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you may cancel before then under the Cancelling section with no further payment.
