Terms for Farms

These terms apply when a farm, butcher, co-op or other supplier ("you") claims a buyer introduction from Half a Cow Club, which is operated by Known by One, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we"). Our general Terms of Service also apply, including their governing law and courts; where the two differ, these terms apply to introductions.

You accept these terms when you claim a buyer, free or paid. By claiming, you confirm that you are authorized to accept them for your business.

When a buyer asks us to find a farm, we email nearby suppliers a preview: the buyer's general area, distance, share size and timing, but not their name or contact details. The first supplier to claim gets the buyer's name, email address, phone number if they gave one, and their request, on the claim page and by email. A buyer who asked for your farm by name is introduced only to you, unless they later ask us to look for other farms as well.

We pass on what the buyer told us. We check that a request is complete and, for older requests, that the buyer is still looking, but we do not verify who the buyer is, where they live or whether they will buy. The problem reports below cover the cases where that goes wrong.

• Your first matched buyer is free.
• A buyer who asked for your farm by name is always free.
• Every other buyer costs $35, shown before you claim. You pay through Stripe Checkout when you claim. There is no subscription and no listing fee.
• The price shown is the full price. If we are ever required to collect sales tax on it, the tax is shown before you pay.
• While you pay, we hold the buyer for you for 30 minutes. If the payment is not completed in that time, the buyer goes back to other nearby suppliers. A payment that completes later still gets you the buyer if no one else has taken them; if someone has, we refund it.

Once you claim a buyer, we do not offer that request to any other supplier, including after a refund or replacement. If a buyer who asked for one farm by name later asks us to find other farms too, only one supplier gets them: once either request is taken, the other closes.

The sale is between you and the buyer. Price, processing, delivery, food safety, licensing and the quality of what you sell are your responsibility, and you confirm that your business may lawfully sell what it lists with us. We are not a party to the sale, and an introduction is not a promise that the buyer will buy.

• Contact the buyer promptly about their request.
• Use their details only to answer that request. Do not sell or share them, and do not add them to a marketing list unless the buyer agrees.
• Follow the law when you contact them, including the rules on telephone calls, text messages and commercial email. The buyer asked to hear from you about this request, and nothing more.
• If the buyer asks you to stop contacting them or to delete their details, do so.
• If you sell, share or misuse a buyer's details, we may stop sending you buyers and remove your listing. Buyers already delivered are not refunded.

Within 7 days of receiving a paid buyer's details, you can report a problem from your supplier portal, or by emailing contact@halfacowclub.com, for one of these reasons:

• Buyer could not be reached
• Buyer had already bought before delivery
• Duplicate of a lead I already received
• Buyer is outside the area I stated
• Spam, bot, or fake details
• Contact is not authorized to buy

We decide each report on the information you and the buyer give us, and reply by email. You then choose between a replacement buyer and a refund to the payment method you used. We offer a replacement first.

Free introductions are not refunded. If you could not reach your free buyer, say so when we ask how it went, and your next buyer is free as well. This applies once.

If you think a charge is wrong, tell us at contact@halfacowclub.com before you dispute it with your card issuer, and we will sort it out with you. While a card dispute is open, we do not send you buyers.

We run the introduction service with reasonable care, but we do not promise that buyers will be available in your area, that a buyer will reply to you, or that the service will always be running. We may stop the service, or stop sending buyers to any supplier, at any time. If we do so while a payment of yours is still in progress, we refund it.

If we ever owe you anything in connection with an introduction, the most we owe is the amount you paid us for that introduction.

Text alerts are optional account notifications about buyers near your farm. You ask for them on a claim page by typing your mobile number and ticking the consent box. You do not need them to be listed or to get buyers, because every alert also goes by email. How text alerts work.

• We text you from +1 (888) 371-9577 when we send you a buyer alert, at most one alert a day, and we answer texts you send us. Message frequency varies.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to end texts, START to turn them back on, or HELP for help. You can also email contact@halfacowclub.com. Stopping texts does not stop our emails.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• We use your number only for these texts. Mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Our buyer alerts and introduction emails have a link to stop our emails. Using it also removes your listing from Half a Cow Club, because we only list suppliers we can send buyers to. You can also ask us at contact@halfacowclub.com, and we remove your listing the same way.

We may change these terms. If we do, we ask you to accept the new version the next time you claim a paid buyer. You only ever pay the price shown when you claim.
