Terms of Service

Half a Cow Club is operated by Known by One, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we"). By using halfacowclub.com ("the website") you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

Suppliers who claim buyer introductions also accept our Terms for Farms; where the two differ, those terms apply to introductions.

Half a Cow Club is a directory of farms, butchers, co-ops and other suppliers selling meat in bulk, with guides and calculators to help you buy, and a free service that introduces your request to suppliers near you.

We do not sell meat. Every purchase is agreed and paid for directly between you and the supplier.

When you fill in the find-a-farm form:

• You are 18 or older, and the details you give are accurate and your own.
• You are asking us to show nearby suppliers your general area, share size and timing, and to give your name, email address and phone number, if you gave one, to the one supplier that takes your request, as the form says. If you asked for a supplier by name, only that supplier gets them. The supplier may contact you about your request at those details.
• We check that a request is complete and that older requests are still open, but we do not verify suppliers beyond what our listings say, and we do not promise that any supplier will take your request or reply to you.
• The service is free for you. A supplier may pay us for the introduction; that does not change what you pay the supplier.
• Any purchase, its price, delivery, processing and food safety are agreed between you and the supplier. We are not a party to it.
• You can close your request at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.

Listings are compiled from public information and from suppliers themselves. We try to keep them accurate, but:

• we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any listing;
• supplier availability, pricing and offerings may change without notice;
• we are not responsible for the quality of products or services provided by suppliers;
• inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement or guarantee of any supplier.

Check details with the supplier before you buy. We may edit, refuse or remove any listing at any time. If your business is listed and you want it corrected or removed, email us at contact@halfacowclub.com.

Our guides and calculators are general information from our own research and experience. They are not professional, food-safety, veterinary, nutritional, financial or legal advice. Storage times, cooking temperatures, prices and yields vary; check them against your supplier's instructions and the guidance of the relevant authorities before relying on them.

Some links on the website are affiliate links: if you click one and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We say so on the pages where they appear.

You agree not to:

• use the website for any unlawful purpose;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems;
• interfere with or disrupt the website's operation;
• scrape or harvest data from the website without permission;
• submit false or misleading information;
• impersonate any person or business.

The text, graphics, logos and software on the website belong to Known by One, LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Supplier names and logos belong to their owners. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or create derivative works from our content without our written permission.

THE WEBSITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE WEBSITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

We make no warranties or representations about the accuracy or completeness of the content on the website or of any site linked from it.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KNOWN BY ONE, LLC AND THE PEOPLE WHO RUN HALF A COW CLUB ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE, FROM ANY INTRODUCTION WE MAKE, OR FROM ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE YOU BUY FROM A SUPPLIER.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the website or these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred dollars.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Known by One, LLC and the people who run Half a Cow Club from any claims, damages, losses or expenses arising from your use of the website, your dealings with a supplier or buyer we introduced you to, or your breach of these terms.

The website links to supplier websites and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content, privacy practices or terms. You use them at your own risk.

We may change these terms. Changes take effect when they are posted here, and using the website after that means you accept them. Suppliers are asked to accept a changed version of the Terms for Farms at their next paid claim.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute about these terms or the website is heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you agree to their jurisdiction. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.

These terms, the Privacy Policy and, for suppliers, the Terms for Farms are the whole agreement between you and us about the website. You may not transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours to a successor of the business. If we do not enforce a term, we can still enforce it later. We may suspend or stop the website, or any part of it, at any time.
